Following from the blog post on GWR 3717 City of Truro, we return to the Watercress Line’s Spring steam gala of 2011
and look at BR standard 9F class 92212.
This impressive locomotive is still in working condition but is away on the Bluebell Railway on loan and so it will not be attending the 2013 Spring Steam Gala.
Regarded by many as the finest British Railway standard class; the 9F’s short history is none-the-less interesting and worth looking into – click here for a previous blog post on this.
The 9F’s size and height can be appreciated in the above photograph – it is significantly larger than the ex-Southern Railway U class!
This weekend, I shall be attending the Watercress Line’s 2013 Spring Steam gala, so as ever, expect lots of heritage railway action!
