Tonight we are looking at this brilliant video that Southern Locomotives Ltd have produced to make the start of the restoration project of 34010 Sidmouth from scrap yard condition. This film recounts the history of the loco and describes the project which will take around three years.

The Southern Locomotive Ltd announced the proposed restoration of 34010 at the company’s AGM on 24th October 2015 and invited its 700 shareholders to indicate their support. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with financial support of around £30,000 offered in the first fortnight. On 15th November the company gave the green light to the plan. Once 34072 257 Squadron is completed, work will start on its oldest ex-BR loco, which has been pieces for much of the time since its withdrawal in 1965.

I for one can’t wait one of the last remaining Barry wrecks come back to steam.
