The T9 – Drummond’s Diamond

T9 - Mid Hants - 2015 - 30120 (1)When the line up for the Mid Hants gala was released the locomotive I was most excited to see was one I saw only a few years ago – the T9. Nicknamed “greyhounds”, the T9 class were a very successful design of Dugald Drummond.  Built in 1899, the locomotive has worn many liveries including Southern Olive and LSWR Pea Green.  Although it looks great in BR Black, you can’t help but think it would look even better in some of it’s earlier liveries.

Unfortunately I only saw the locomotive on 2 occasions as I kept missing her but I think you’ll agree that she looks stunning. I have always said that my favourite guest ever to a MHR gala was the T9, as she looks perfect as glides gracefully along the line.

Hopefully it won’t be long before I get to see her again.

That’s not all folks!  Before and during manning the Canadian Pacific stand, Dave squeezed in a number of shot’s of this beautiful Victorian machine… watch this space!
