Era – Post Nationalisation

Model of the Week – Peppercorn A1 Class – 60163 Tornado

Welcome to the last “model of the week” series, which will become a less regular feature in the future.  However, today’s model is an important one to end the series – A1 class 60163 Tornado.  This Bachmann model has previously been reviewed (click here for more) and is a regular runner here at Locoyard.  Today…

Model of the Week – British Railways Standard Class 9F – 92212

The last model of the week blog post for 2013 is a (renumbered) Bachmann BR Standard class 9F class.  The model has previously been reviewed (click here for more) and being such a solid performer is a regular runner here at Locoyard.  Today we look at the history of this powerful prototype.

Model of the Week – SDJR Fowler 4F 0-6-0 58

This week’s model star is S&DJR 4F no 58, a regular runner in the Locoyard collection and recent stand-in for the broken-down Christmas Pannier tank engine.  This model is an unusual member of a large class of locomotive’s, resplendent in Prussian blue.  Let’s delve into the history of this prototype…

Demonstration Goods

Seeing as a Christmas goods train was featured in this morning’s advent Calendar blog post (click here to view), I thought it fitting to publish some pictures of a goods train in action!

Model of the Week – Ivatt 4MT class 2-6-0 43160

One of the more unusual looking locomotives of the 00 scale locoyard fleet of model locomotives is Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 43160.  This Bachmann model has been reviewed before (click here to read the review) and today, we look at the history of the prototype…

Model of the Week – 264 Class Caley Pug – 56038

56038 is a small but characterful member of the Locoyard fleet.  It is a highly modified Hornby Caledonian Pug.  The Caley Pug has long been within the Hornby range, with 56038’s classmate 56025 Smokey Joe being in every Hornby catalog since 1983.  For such a popular model, it is quite surprising how little has been…

Model of the Week – BR Standard 7MT Class 70004 William Shakespeare

This week’s model star is prestigious member of the Locoyard fleet.  A special member of the BR Standard 7MT Britannia class; 70004 William Shakespeare is a popular prototype despite it no longer being with us.

Bachmann Midland Fowler 4F 0-6-0 Review

The Midland Railway’s 4F 3835 class numbered 197 examples.  The class were tough and reliable and construction of the class continued by the LMS, albeit with lower chimneys and dome plus switched from right to left hand drive by the LMS.  Hornby produce a model of the LMS-built type, which is an old Airfix model…

Model of the Week – SDJR Jinty 3F 23

This week’s model star is S&DJR 3F Jinty no 23, a new but regular runner in the Locoyard collection.  This model is somewhat interesting as it is a model of a locomotive masquerading as a different machine!  It is therefore a model of BR 47327 repainted as S&DJR number 23…

Bachmann Ex-GCR 11F/Ex-LNER D11 Improved Director Class Review

This model review has been promised for a little while now!  The D11 class were very successful locomotives that performed well throughout their forty year career’s.  Bachmann’s model is no less impressive and set’s a standard that will be hard to match!
