It was a visit to the Science Museum in London that sparked the quest to find the most famous steam locomotive (click here to read more). However despite that, there had yet to be a proper article on the three locomotives to be found there, so here (at last!) it is!
With the opening of the Bluebell Railway’s northern extension tomorrow, a model of one of the line’s locomotive’s seemed appropriate. So here we have, unrebuilt West Country Bulleid Pacific 21C123 Blackmoor Vale!
Until the end of March 2013, we were accepting nominations for locomotives considered to be the most famous! This competition was started in UK Heritage Hub’s e-magazine (Click here to download and read it). A poll is now live for all nominated entries – click here to vote!

After a lot of time, the Locoyard model fleet page has finally been updated. This was most popular page of the website in 2012; however it became too big and corrupted so had to be closed. Hopefully we will not have the same problems this time! Not only is it better functioning, but it should…
Saturday 23rd March 2013 will see the re-opening of the rail link between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead.
This is the first BR standard class locomotive to feature in the Model of the week series. Once again, we shall be looking at the history of the prototype, illustrated by pictures of Bachmann’s rendition of the model (click here for the model review).
