Tonight is part three of a series of blog posts (click here for part 1 and click here for part 2), showing some of the Model layouts that could be seen Solent Model Railway Group’s Exhibition held on the 23rd and 24 February 2013.
Batty Moor – 1:148 scale, N gauge – Twickenham & District Model Railway Club
This N gauge layout really makes good use of N gauge by being large and impressive;, with long trains creating a wild, isolated large moorland scene. Based on a section of the Settle and Carlisle Railway (Blea Moor, north of Ribblehead viaduct) the layout has long prototypical trains and had an impressive Garrett in action (see above.)
Horsley Bank – 1:76.2 scale, P4 gauge – Steve Howe, Cornwall
This is a very well executed small industrial layout with plenty of pre-war character.
Steve Howe put a lot of effort into thinking out the layout to allow for shunting movements making it interesting to watch.
Greyness Steelworks – 3mm scale TT gauge – Hugh Martin, Marchwood
Set in the 1950’s in a steelworks at Scunthorpe, Greyness Steelworks is a nice layout of an interesting 3mm scale. It uses lot’s of kit and hand-built locomotive’s and modified Triang TT railway wagons.
Bodmore Vale – 1:148 scale N gauge – David Lear, Wiltshire
Bodmore Scale is an N gauge layout that is crammed full of details with trains running on two levels. This action-packed layout is always interesting to watch!
More Blog Posts will be published on the exhibition in due course. As ever, watch this space!
