North Yorkshire Moors Railway – Spring Steam Gala 2015

After a successful autumn gala, based on the Great Western Railway, the North Yorkshire Railway planned to turn to the Western Region for inspiration once again for their Spring Steam Gala, held between the 17th and 26th April. Unfortunately, with 4936 ‘Kintlet Hall’ deemed out of gauge on the Esk Valley line between Battersby and Grosmont and the South Devon Railway’s Pannier Tank L92 required at Buckfastleigh, the gala would be a much smaller affair, with all available resident locomotives working along side Ian Riley’s Black 5s, 44871 and 45407.

In this video by Paul Begg, we show all 7 locomotives in action at various points on the challenging NYMR, as well as in the Esk Valley.
