Hornby Railroad GNR J13 (LNER J52) Tank Model Review

On the lookout for decent, cheap 00 scale models, I came across a Hornby GNR J13.  At first glance it was obvious that it was streets ahead of the J83 so decided to give it a go, so here is it’s review!

Model of the Week – SDJR Jinty 3F 23

This week’s model star is S&DJR 3F Jinty no 23, a new but regular runner in the Locoyard collection.  This model is somewhat interesting as it is a model of a locomotive masquerading as a different machine!  It is therefore a model of BR 47327 repainted as S&DJR number 23…

Bachmann Fowler 3F Jinty Tank Model Review

Locoyard’s latest edition to the fleet is Bachmann S&DJR 3F Jinty number 23 (catalogue number 32-233).  Today we review the model, that is also produced by Hornby in their “Railroad” range (click here for the review).

Bachmann 3F Fowler Jinty DCC Fitting Guide (DCC Ready version)

Hornby Railroad LNER J83 Tank Model Review

In the search for a working Hornby type 7 motor, this J83 spent a brief foray on the locoyard layout before being dismantled, quite frankly in disgust!  This model is very poor and it is quite surprising that Hornby sell it in this century.  You’ll soon find out why I say this…

Hornby Type 7 Motor Standard Chassis 0-6-0 DCC Fitting Guide

The standard 0-6-0 chassis with type 7 motor has for some time been used in a lot of Hornby model locomotives!  The list of models below may not be 100% complete, but covers some of the major types where it is used. Hornby models using the Type 7 0-6-0 chassis:

Hornby Railroad Fowler 3F Jinty Tank Model Review

This review is of a keenly priced model for the younger enthusiast.  It is aimed at the budget end of the market, whilst the discerning modeler has the option spending more and going for the better, but more expensive Bachmann version (click here for the review of the Bachmann Jinty).  The Hornby Jinty 3F can…

SECR C Class 592 on the Bluebell Railway

After looking at Ex-LBSCR E4 class B473 and Southern U class 1638 we now complete the round-up of locomotives that were in steam when visiting the Bluebell Railway on the 26th August.  In my opinion we have left the best to last – South Eastern and Chatham Railway’s C class 592.  If you have enjoyed…
