Hornby BR Standard 8P Class 71000 Duke of Gloucester DCC Fitting Guide

The appeal of owning a model of the unique BR Standard 8P class 71000 Duke of Gloucester proved too much and so we have a new addition to the Locoyard fleet.  This is the DCC fitting guide (click here for the model review.)

Bachmann GWR 45xx Small Prairie Tank DCC Fitting Guide (DCC Ready version)

One of the more recent additions to the Locoyard fleet is GWR small prairie tank number 4555.  It will be reviewed in due course, but for the time being here is the guide to fit a DCC decoder.

Bachmann 3F Fowler Jinty DCC Fitting Guide (DCC Ready version)

One of the more recent additions to the Locoyard fleet is S&DJR 3F Jinty number 23.  It will be reviewed in due course, but for the time being here is the guide to fit a DCC decoder.

Bachmann Ex-LMS Fairburn 4MT 2-6-4T DCC Fitting Guide

The Bachmann Fairburn 4MT Tank engine is a favourite performer here at locoyard.  It predates this blog, so a DCC fitting guide was never published before, however as the locomotive had a small decoder fitted but had space for a bigger one, I took the opportunity to replace it and publish this guide!

Bachmann Ex-LMS Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 DCC Fitting Guide

Whilst searching to fill the missing BR standard 4MT gaps in the locoyard fleet, I stumbled upon an Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0.  This is not a southern engine and in that respect quite out of place in the collection, but nevertheless it is an unusual addition to the fleet and a review of it will be…

Bachmann BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0 DCC Fitting Guide (DCC Ready Version)

Although not quite up to the standard of Hornby’s 4MT 4-6-0 model, Bachmann’s model is never-the-less a reasonable model and can be found very cheaply.  It is no wonder that one has found it’s way into the Locoyard running fleet, particularly one in Bachmann’s rich rendition of Brunswick Green.  A review of the model will…

Hornby GNR/LNER Gresley N2 class DCC Fitting Guide

Following the review of Hornby’s 00 scale recreation of  GNR/LNER Gresley’s N2 class; today we look at how to fit a DCC chip to the DCC Ready version.

Bachmann LNER A1 class (60163 Tornado) DCC Fitting Guide

After reading many posts from different people on model rail forums, I approached the DCC installation of the Bachmann A1 class with a little trepidation.  I’m happy to report that

Bachmann SDJR 7F Class – DCC fitting guide

The past few days has given much time for reflection, but it is now time to get on with the good old “bread and butter” Locoyard articles!  And today, we see a DCC chip fitted to

Bachmann SECR C Class – DCC fitting guide

Adding a DCC chip to the 21 pin socket in the tender of Bachmann’s C class is a fairly easy task.  However, you must be very gentle with the tender and the permanently connected locomotive as there are delicate details that could easily be broken off.  After testing the model works in DC operation, the…
