The Great Gathering Models

After the visit to the NRM and with my modelling brain in gear, I had a think about Hornby and their limited production run of 500 pieces of each A4 class locomotive in 00 scale in “The Great Gathering” range.  Bearing in mind how good the Hornby A4 model is (click here for the review)…

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (aka Locoyard in the NRM)

On the first day of the 75th Anniversary of Mallard breaking the world speed record for steam traction, my friends at UK Heritage Hub published some of the first pictures of “The Gathering” here on Locoyard which gave an excellent background (click here to read it) to why all six surviving Gresley A4 Pacific locomotives…

Bachmann Fowler 3F Jinty Tank Model Review

Locoyard’s latest edition to the fleet is Bachmann S&DJR 3F Jinty number 23 (catalogue number 32-233).  Today we review the model, that is also produced by Hornby in their “Railroad” range (click here for the review).

Hockley Viaduct – A good example of making use of redundant infrastructure

More 1937 Coronation material courtesy of Nick Littlewood

Following from the excellent 1937 Coronation brochure (click here for more), Nick Littlewood has sent some more contemporary scanned images to help us look a little deeper into the 75th Anniversary of LNER A4 class 4468 Mallard breaking and setting the world speed record for steam.  This time we look at Railway Magazine’s August 1937…

Model of the Week – British Railways Standard Class 4MT 4-6-0 75069

Our model of the week is BR standard 4MT class locomotive 75069.  As usual, we shall be looking at the history of the prototype, illustrated by pictures of Bachmann’s model (click here for the model review).

Coronation 1937 LNER Brochure courtesy of Nick Littlewood

Nick Littlewood has sent some very topical scanned images that fit perfectly with the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of LNER A4 class 4468 Mallard breaking and setting the world speed record for steam.  The images supplied here are scanned from an original copy of the 1937 LNER brochure for the Coronation Express, featuring 4489…

One of the more recent additions to the Locoyard fleet is S&DJR 3F Jinty number 23.  It will be reviewed in due course, but for the time being here is the guide to fit a DCC decoder.
