Detailing Projects

Improving Bachmann’s Lord Nelson

Locoyard will be going back in time to Southern Railway in the 1930’s 1940’s very soon.  Lined black and Brunswick Green will make way for Olive and malachite green. In preparation for the changeover, I’ve had a look at Lord Nelson, with the view to improving it some more.  Much the work has already been…

Gild the Golden Arrow

After much time, I have finally got round to adding the “Golden Arrow” Regalia to Hornby 70004 William Shakespeare.  I also fitted a vacuum pipe, coupling hook and

Sheffield Park Static Display (Models on display part 2)

A quick post tonight and the second taken away from the yard of one of my static models.  The below picture is the top shelf of my display cabinet. The cabinet is where I show off my non-locoyard resident models.  Some of the non-residents visit the yard occasionally, but this is another that is not…

Super Detail Hornby Pug

A previous post showing my progress with building a SER class 01 from a Jinty Chassis and a Golden Arrow resin kit created some interest, so today’s blog show’s a completed project – the project being the creation of a super-detail Hornby Pug. Hornby’s model of a Caledonian Pug (class 264) has been around for…

Q1 class update

Just a quick update tonight to show that I’ve completed one of my locomotive identity-change projects.  I’ve renumbered Q1 class C8 to C1.  C1 is the only surviving member

9F Evening Star – adding a little more detail

Good Evening, Locoyard followers! As mentioned before in a previous post; my Hornby Railroad 9F class Evening Star has been the subject of an ongoing detailing project.  Highlighting the copper pipes was done before, as was adding the lamp brackets, smokebox door and the replacement of the recessed glazing.  However, I was not happy with…

Royal Scot visits the Yard (and a layout update)

As promised yesterday, a Royal Visitor has arrived for the weekend.  Usually confined to the display cabinet, 6100 Royal Scot has been given a run around the yard.  This was another model rescued from the repair/spares section of ebay.  It’s original owner dropped the model – hence the reconstructed front Bufferbeam.  I also replaced the
