Just a quick update tonight to show that I’ve completed one of my locomotive identity-change projects. I’ve renumbered Q1 class C8 to C1. C1 is the only surviving member of the class and is preserved at the National Railway Museum, York. For a time it ran on the Bluebell Railway. It would be fantastic to see it in steam again!
I’ve blogged previously about the appearance of the prototype and found to my surprise that is very popular! There was in fact no negative feedback about the design’s unique appearance. I’m glad I’m not the only one who is fond of the Q1 class! Bulleid’s austerity locomotive was a brilliant machine and happily Hornby’s model is also a fantastic performer in 00 scale and its great to have it back in service.
