Continuing from last Friday’s blog post, today we look at more locomotives that have departed Locoyard. The locomotives in this blog post were sold to fund a switch to DCC and are all either kit-built or kit-modified. They were purchased in a fairly poor state and “restored” before being sold. We start with GWR 7800 Torquay Manor (above and below). This was a very well-detailed model, with a nice open cab, real coal in the tender and lamps on the front.
The following model is a modified Hornby Dublo ex-SER R1 class; back-dated to to an original R.
Although the locomotive had been converted to 2-rail running, it would have been very difficult to convert to DCC and was sold as a result.
The final locomotive was sold with some regret! It is a kit built version of Maunsell’s Q class 541 (as preserved on the Bluebell Railway).
Although it was a nice model, the motor protruded into the cab and although it’s old Triang Hornby chassis was reliable and smooth it would not have been to easy to squeeze in a DCC chip.
Over the past couple of days I have managed to squeeze in some more Christmas steam and these will be shared in due course. So as ever, watch this space! Many pictures from these will be shared covertly through Advent Calendar blog posts, so log on every morning to see these! Also, please do not forget the Christmas photo competition! This is your chance to share your Christmas train photographs with everyone on Christmas Day. I look forward to hearing from you! 🙂
