After a busy couple of days, it’s nice to sit back and watch the trains! Beattie Well Tank 30587 has been shunted into the yard (see below) and Southern N15 736 Excalibur pulling a short rake of two Maunsell carriages (see above). This Hornby model is excellent in every department; a flawless powerful runner that looks “just right”. Despite this, it benefits from one “detailing” project (as all models do) from the addition of a real coal load. This is made a lot easier by the model having a removable plastic coal load, so it doesn’t require any drilling or potential model butchery! Which reminds me… I’m hoping to improve my two Bachmann N class loco’s by adding coal, but have yet to work up the courage to modify! Any tips anyone?!
