Spring Scenes At Ropley Loco Yard

Watercress Line - 2013 - Ropley - BR Standard 5MT - 73096

Prior to catching the Real Ale Train (click here for more); I had a quick look at Ropley loco yard to see what was going on.  As usual there was plenty to see!

BR Standard 5MT 73096 (see pictures above) was basking in the sun.  This delightful old favourite is currently out-of-service, awaiting a full overhaul.

Watercress Line - 2013 - Ropley - 1 Thomas the Tank EngineAlso out in the sun was Thomas the Tank Engine, albeit without his face.  Thomas is of course a contender for the title of “most famous steam locomotive” – if you’ve not voted for this yet, please do by clicking here.

Ropley is always a fantastic place to visit; it is almost constantly busy and every time I visit there’s something new or different to be seen.  This loco yard is very much alive!
