Following on from Part 1 and Part 2 of a series of blog posts looking at the model railways of Pecorama, today we look at the brilliant Layout Catalunya. Catalunya (or Catalonia as known in English) is an area of Spain that includes Barcelona. This layout is based on a typical Spanish town in this area and is set by the sea. The trains are but a small part of the layout and it’s the many details of the town that will have you gazing and looking at for a long time! As part of the “Special Purpose Room” exhibition, the layout shows what level of detail could potentially be achieved in a dedicated room. Within a relatively short space of time, the town goes through 24 hours – so night is followed by sunrise and then daytime.
The diorama was built by Shirley Rowe with the electrics and lighting completed by her husband David. The layout is absolutely stunning and I have to say it was my favourite to be found at Pecorama. The pictures above and below were taken during “daytime” at Catalunya.
The pictures below show Catalunya at night.
Finally in the pictures below we see Catalunya at sunrise.
I hope you have enjoyed looking at these pictures of this fantastic model railway!
