60163 was built in 2008 and was the first mainline steam locomotive built in the UK since 92220 Evening star.  Tornado’s story is a very interesting one.  Rather than repeat it here, I urge you to check out the A1 Steam Trusts web site (click here) to find out more.

Tornado was captured on 1st September 2013 at Ropley on the Watercress Line with it’s support coach; BR mark one E21249.  Still carrying it’s BR blue livery, the impressive 8P Pacific shouldn’t have been in Hampshire as it was due to visit the North Norfolk Railway, however owing to a problem with the connection to Network Rail at Alton, 60163 was “stranded” at Ropley.
