Steam’s Return to the Dawlish Sea Wall

On the 10th April, LNER A4 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley passed over the Dawlish Sea Wall, hauling the first steam-hauled railtour across the sea wall following the severe storms of February 2014 that washed away large pieces of the track bed. UK Heritage Hub’s roving reporter, James Corben, was at Dawlish today, and captured this video of No.7 accelerating away from the 30mph speed restriction.

Shirl Turner previously reported in March on how the sea wall looked like earlier in March (click here for more) – as you can see it is a dramatic difference!
