Bankside Miniature Railway - Brambridge Garden Centre 2014 - Carolyn (turntable)Steam railways can be found in all shapes and sizes, but this one is unique in the UK, I believe.  Brambridge Garden Centre, Hampshire is home to the UK’s only 8 1/4 inch miniature railway.  Services are hauled by a delightful tank engine named Carolyn that was built in 1924.

Bankside Miniature Railway - Brambridge Garden Centre 2014 - stationAlthough the railway is short, running a loop of around 300 metres from the station (above), its unique character make it a worthwhile visit, particularly if you have children.

Bankside Miniature Railway - Brambridge Garden Centre 2014 - CarolynThe garden centre itself is excellent, with a great restaurant/cafe that serves some very nice cake!  It has a large aquatics section full of different fish, which again is popular with young and old alike!  So if you are in the Eastleigh/Winchester area, the garden centre with its unique steam railway is worth a visit!
