While away chasing the Great Britain VII, UK Heritage Hub’s roving reporter, James Corben, was hoping to chase one of Ian Riley’s Black 5s from Inverness to the Kyle of Lochalsh. Unfortunately, 44871 derailed in Glasgow the night previous to this trip, and so was unable to head north to haul this train along this wonderful line.
Having headed north overnight, 37516, a class 37 owned by Carnforth-based West Coast Railway Company, took over from the Black 5, and headed to the Kyle of Lochalsh. This is the video from the day.
James’ video from the rest of the Great Britain VII can be found here

Great piece of footage. The landscapes the train runs through is absolutely stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,
Gary.
