We reported back in May that the East Lancashire Railway were looking for votes in Aviva Community Fund and we’re very happy to report that they were successful in obtaining £10,000! The funds will be used towards completing the canopy of platform 2 at Bury Bolton Street Station. Naturally the railway is elated with the news as it means that they are a big step closer. If you’d like to further assist, donations can be made to the East Lancashire Railway (click here to donate.)
The other piece of interesting news from the railway is that their fleet will be supplemented by some Bulleid power from the 16th July. West Country class 34092 Well’s, usually based on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway will be visiting until the end of August, a locomotive in complete contrast to those running in their Small Engines weekend that I had the pleasure of attending earlier in the year!
