Tonight we have a short blog post to report on progress of an overhaul of a British Railways Standard class locomotive in Devon. A few days ago, the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway published pictures of their BR Standard 4MT 4-6-0, 75014 Braveheart’s boiler arriving back from Crewe at Churston on their Facebook page (click here to view). This shows that a significant milestone of its overhaul has been passed and that 75014 is a step closer to completion in comparison to when these photographs were taken through their works window earlier this summer.
The railway is very busy, thanks in part at least to it’s scenic route and tourist rich destinations. This summer the railway has required the hiring of 7820 Dinmore Manor to assist hauling tourists of the Devon Riviera and so progress on the 4MT is likely to be very welcome!
