Good evening,
As I reported earlier in the year a trust is being formed with the objectives of securing the future of Merchant Navy class 35011 General Steam Navigation and finding her a new home to begin restoration. The trusts aim is return 35011 to her original as-built condition as this will both fill the major gap in post war Southern express engine development in preservation and would give the locomotive a unique selling point which they believe will give her best chance of a future in steam. The team held its first working weekend at the beginning of October where they were able to assess the condition of the locomotive and prepare her for a move once we find her a new home.
The trust posted a photo showing some of the work carried out on her with the firefox being cleaned and painted to protect her from the elements. This is the start of a long but hopefully successful restoration that will see 21c11 hauling trains up and down the country. More infomation can be found on the trusts website which can be found here.
On that note thanks for reading.
