Good evening,
Tonight we are having a quick look at the Great Central Railway’s Winter Gala. The GCRs Winter Galas seen by the majority of railway enthusiasts as the curtain opener to the years heritage events and this years was no different.
Our little family loves steam trains, my grandfather was a fireman on them and hubby’s parents have always enjoyed them too. It was a big tick when husband (to be) confessed his love of steam!
The in-laws has said they were planning to visit Great Central Railway’s Winter Gala and as we hadn’t been before, and handily it was halfway between where we lived and their house (only 90 mins from Buxton), we arranged for us to all go together. It was running over three days (Frid – Mon) and we picked the Friday as we thought it would be a bit quieter.

Thanks for reading
Thank you for sharing my post, though I’d consider myself a train enthusiast 😀

Fair enough have modified it to reflect it. It’s a great post and let’s hope your little gets bitten by the steam bug as well

Thanks Simon 🙂 I might not be a ‘typical’ enthusiast but with my grandfather’s heritage it’s in the blood. My eldest has the steam train bug, now to introduce the youngest!
You’ve a great blog, thank you for curating so many interesting posts.

I can’t take the credit for the blog the main author does 90% of the work.
Will have to keep an eye out for future posts of yours then. Kids and railways are a good mix my 6 year old daughter loves visiting the steam trains with me.
