Steam Preservation Railways are becoming ever more popular and, with the increased revenue, the Societies have been ploughing more and more money into restoring not only locomotives but also old rolling stock – “Carriages or Coaches” to the uninitiated.

At a recent Steam Gala held at the North Norfolk Railway, I was given the opportunity to ride in some rather unorthodox vintage carriages dating back to 1886 pulled by an even more unexpected little locomotive.
