With my first pay-cheque of the New Year, I ordered two DCC chips – an 8 pin Train$ave for my BR Standard 3MT tank and a Bachmann 6 pin for the Beattie Well Tank. These were purchased from Hattons and were literally at my door within 24 hours of ordering – very impressive!
Due to time constraints, I’ve only chipped the 3MT so far. This Bachmann model is an excellent runner and nicely detailed. It probably will become my fiddle yard shunter, but for now is running-in. It is a model well worth purchasing and will prove very useful in the yard!
I’ve had good experiences with the Train$ave chip and providing there is space, I’d choose it over the Hornby R8249. It is a big (by modern standards) chip though, so check the available space in your locomotive before purchasing.
