Beattie Well Tank takes to layout

Yesterday Bachmann 6 pin DCC Decoder  (36-558) was fitted to Beattie Well Tank 30587.  Kernow’s limited run model is a fantastic model with plenty of detail.  Fitting the chip was simple enough, though care had to be taken as space in the smokebox is tight.  It is now running nicely, although its short wheel-base means that the track has to be kept very  clean to aid running.  I’d highly recommend this model and I’m looking forward to the release of the ex-LSWR Adams 02 (hopefully) later in the year.  The picture above shows the Well Tank beside Merchant Navy Pacific Port Line – two very contrasting sized locomotives!

I have just returned from Southampton Model Railway Society’s exhibition in Barton Peveril College, Eastleigh.  I intend to write a longer blog; later today or Sunday about what was to be seen, but I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself and highly recommend a visit.  See http://www.smrs.hampshire.org.uk/ for me details.

I did make a purchase – a limited run 7 plank wagon commissioned by Wessex Wagons (http://www.wessexwagons.co.uk/), fittingly in “Eastleigh Co-operative” livery (see below).  The Wessex Wagons stand at the exhibition was a treasure-trove of South/Western wagons and I look forward to seeing them again in future years.
