In November last year, a few pictures taken of 4953 Pitchford Hall were published, today we (finally!) complete looking at the brief visit to Loughborough in 2011. The controversially painted crimson lake liveried LMS 8F 2-8-0 8264 is today’s centre of attention.
Crimson Lake was a livery not usually applied to this class of locomotive and although I personally like the look the locomotive in maroon, it is not universally popular with many, who would prefer it to be in it’s far more “correct” unlined black colours. The final set of pictures below show a couple of views of Loughborough locomotive works (with 1874 built 0-6-0 well tank number C “Bellerophon”) and a view of LNER Observation car E1719E.
