Our “stead” for the day whilst visiting the Swanage Railway was the rather magnificent rebuilt West Country Pacific 34028 Eddystone.
This locomotive is one of a number owned by Southern locomotives Ltd. It was built in 1946 and rebuilt in 1958. It was the first Bulleid light pacific withdrawn in 1962 and spent 22 years at Woodham’s scrap yard, Barry, before it was purchased.
Restoration took some time, with the locomotive moving from Sellinge to Swanage. It had its first run in preservation in 2003.
The last time I saw this engine in steam was at the beginning of the time that I was returning to the hobby. I hope you enjoy the pictures of 34028; thanks for reading folks!
