Heritage Days

English Heritage will be celebrated this weekend at Bancroft Mill, Barnoldswick with free entry to steaming events on both Saturday and Sunday.  On both days the museum will open at 11.00am and the mill engine will run from 1.00 to 4.30pm. The engine and its boiler will be centre pieces of the event with the 1901 Bradley engine rebuild also open to all.

Only slightly less important are the special features.  On Saturday Noreen Lobo,a a local artist, will produce portraits on site whist you sit, with all the proceeds being donated to the Save the Children Fund. On Sunday there is traditional Lancashire entertainment from Sid Calderbank and other members of the Lancashire Society performing song, music and poetry (plus clog dancing if you’re lucky) from the days of the cotton weavers.

A steam enthusiast has a “long exposure photo” taken at Bancroft in 2012.  This year Noreen has Syrian children in mind when she operates.
