Good evening, I thought I’d share something I came across recently and is a brilliant tool for raising money for our heritage scene. Thanks to “EasyFundraising.org.uk” you can raise money for your favourite heritage railway simply by doing your shopping online! Easy Fundraising helps charities, schools, sports clubs, community groups, and other good causes to raise money when their supporters shop online. They have raised over £3 million for causes throughout the UK.
It works in a similar way to nectar, but instead of earning points when you shop, you raise a donation for your cause instead. It’s as simple as that!
You can shop with over 2,000 well known stores and each will donate up to 15% of what you spend. For example, John Lewis will donate 2.5%, Amazon 2.5%, The Body Shop 10%, some insurance retailers will even donate up to £30 simply for taking out a policy with them! There is no cost for the good cause either – Easy Fundraising service is totally free.
It’s very simple – once you’ve registered, when you shop with one of there retailers, the Easy Fundraising system makes a note of your purchase, collects the donation from the retailer and passes it to your chosen good cause. That’s it! No hassle for you, they do all the hard work while you shop as your normally would. There are even ways of getting free donations by doing various surveys online.
I have signed up and raise money for the Mid Hants and since it has started it has made over £800 for the line, which will help out a lot. If you also want to donate to the Mid Hants you need to click the link below (part of a recommend a friend scheme) because once you have raised £10 we’ll give you an extra £5 donation!
Other railways registered include the Bluebell, Kent and East Sussex, Yeovil Railway Centre, Gwili Railway, Llangollen Railway and many more. The Swanage Railway has raised £1,300, the Great Central Railway has made £1,175 and the Severn Valley £575. So it’s well worth doing and it wont cost you a penny. The more people who do it the more money you will raise.
