Hello everyone, just a quickie to say that the GWSR’s gala on the 24th – 26th of May is fast approaching, and the timetable has now been released here, listing all the things to do, including tours of the C+W workshops. If you’re there, do stop by and take  look around, I’ll be there for all of Sunday and Monday and Saturday afternoon (at least before the evening ticket comes into effect at 15:45 anyway!)

Also the contract for repairing Bridges to Broadway has been placed, but there is still £99,000 left to raise so it’s not all plain sailing yet. once the bridges are repaired, mos other things are in place ready for track laying, ballasting and signalling equipment to be installed. The current target for getting to Broadway is 2018, let’s hope we can make it!

  1. I hope too, I’m staying Saturday evening until it get’s dark, well that’s the plan anyway so should get some good shots then, other than that, I suspect most of my pictures of the trains will be from Winchcombe yard! I had hoped to go line side at some point, but I’ve ended up spending most of my weekend manning the workshops. Hopefully it’ll get some interesting shots, as I don’t think a bog standard line side pass lets you into the yard proper.

It’s also looking like 2807 won’t make the gala, as it’s still stuck at Tyesley. It might be on location for the gala, but there’s some stuff to put back on once she’s returned before she can go back into service. 4270 has hopefully made her first moves today and will be in the paint shop at Winchcombe the weekend, although it doesn’t look like she’ll be lettered up in time for the gala. Apart from that, all going smoothly! visiting locos should be arriving in a few days, I’ll have my eyes peeled if I’m around, try and grab some photos of them on the road if I spot them.
