Just a quick post for anyone who’s ever considered volunteering on a heritage railway. The GWSR is holding its first ever recruitment fair this weekend (21st-22nd March) This is the time to discover what you can do to help, whether it be up on the footplate, inspecting tickets, restoration work, catering, the list goes on and on, and on a bit more! I’ll be on the Carriage and wagon department’s stand on the Saturday, and possibly the Sunday too, and hopefully we can get some new people involved.

We only have a couple of paid staff for admin, the rest of the railway is run entirely by the growing pool of over 800 volunteers, but this still isn’t enough! With our extension to Broadway coming soon we’ll need even more people to help keep the railway running. To find out more about the weekend please click here to see what you need to do.
