After April’s trip to the north east of England and no less than four rides on different railway’s, last week’s trip to Devon was less rail themed with two rides, one on Bickington Steam Railway and another on the South Devon Railway. But with that said, I still managed to sneak a few minutes in Kingswear, the western terminus of the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway!
I was hoping to catch a sighting of a new locomotive – new for me that is. I was fortunate to do just that, although I wasn’t sure until the locomotive was close. For this summer, the P&DSR is home to two Manor class steam locomotives, both painted in BR black with an early crest, hence being unsure of the identity of the locomotive until it was close up. Resident 7827 Lydham Manor has been joined by 7820 Dinmore Manor. Upon closer inspection however, the finish of the two Manor’s is not identical – Dinmore Manor is in simpler unlined black, unlike 7827.
Thanks to fellow locoyard blogger Alex, 7820 Dinmore Manor has featured here before. Check out his blog post that details the history of the locomotive by clicking here. I’ll leave you with the pictures of my brief encounter with 7820.
Thanks for reading folks.
