There is perhaps nothing more “chocolate box” in appearance on the railways than a 14xx and an autocoach chuffing up and down a small branchline, and with lots of mainline engines, 1450 was a welcome reminder of a more authentic Severn Valley line image.
1450 is owned by Mike Little, and has been staying on the SVR for some time now. Whilst it’s not powerful enough for normal service trains, it is often seen on footplate experiences and of course galas, where for this weekend it was operating Kidderminster-Bewdley shuttles.
1450 has at various times stayed on the South Devon Railway, the Dean Forest, and my own GWSR, where I hope that one day we’ll see again, perhaps operating the short DMU shuttle on high days…
